Fake newsSince Fake News is in the headlines, I thought that my very own fake news quiz would be the perfect post for a Fifth Friday.

How many times do you pick up the paper, or click through your favorite news site, and encounter some very strange headlines? Some of those stories are real doozies! Could they possibly be true? I was reading along, scratching my head, when it occurred to me that some of these headlines would make a fun game. Below I’ve listed a dozen headlines. Some are real. Some are clearly made up. You can tell the difference, right?

I actually found all of these online, but not all are true. I mined the Christian satire site The Babylon Bee three of these headlines. The rest are actual news stories. Here are links to all the headlines.

  2. Satellite Church Launch Scrubbed Due To High Winds

  3. The Sourtoe Cocktail: Yes, It’s An Actual Human Toe In A Drink
    Someone has stolen the mummified human toe included in the signature drink at the Downtown Hotel in Dawson City, Canada.
  4. Germans Build a 4-Mile Underground Pipeline—for Beer

    A traveler on a Chinese road captured video of a man on a motor scooter brazenly flouting safety measures by using both hands to use his phone.
  6. Man Dies, Finds Best Life Now
    Local man Cecil Hayes passed away Thursday at age 67, finally finding his best life now after losing a long and difficult struggle with cancer, relatives confirmed.
  7. Grand theft avocado: 3 arrested in $300K California theft
    Three produce company workers have been arrested in the theft of up to $300,000 worth of avocados, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
  8. Teen police volunteers steal LAPD cars, patrol Los Angeles
    Three teenagers in a program for those who may want to become officers stole three Los Angeles Police Department vehicles and went on patrol around the city before leading authorities on wild pursuits that ended with crashes
  9. Amazon To Buy Whole World For $450 Trillion

    US clothing chain Nordstrom has launched a line of ‘dirty’ jeans which come with a ‘crackled, caked-on muddy coating’.

    He estimated the calorie count at around 12,000, completing the stunt in 10 minutes 45.01 seconds.

  1. The Beer lne is not so far away from us! The purpose… for the weekend of rock music to have enough beer available without ruining the property there. Trucks otherwise drive over the fields there carrying cases of beer to be sold and the property gets deep ruts in it. With this system the area should hopefully stay in better shape! Many people go there and sleep in tents…. In Wacken. ☺
